On the eve of the Full Green Corn Moon on August 6th, enter a magical realm set in a cozy backyard garden, for an evening of artist-led restorative actions. Garden Hours grounds our temporal bodies as we aim for the astral, cultivating the edges of perception and setting intentions. At Garden Hours, we’ll carve out a shared space in which to contemplate alliances with mineral, animal and vegetable beings – soil, pollinators, milkweed and cacti. From day to dusk and into night, we’ll stretch our egos while fostering collective intuition with humor and delight, tea and snacks. Ingredients in this unfixed recipe may include: light exercise, story-time shared over biodynamic tinctures, rites and rituals from the heart and the hip, guided meditation by moonrise, mild dancing and at least one surprise. Participation is requested, not required; visitors may come and go. It may be messy.
Garden Hours is part of MAIDEN LA, a county-wide network of ‘happenings’ that will take place every year during the month of August.
The task of understanding is not to replicate in conceptual form something that already exists, but rather to create a wholly new realm, that together with the world given to our senses constitutes the fullness of reality.
